DILF
The
The DILF is an official diploma validating an initial level of French proficiency (A1.1 of the CEFR). It assesses communicative and linguistic skills acquired at the very beginning of French learning.
The DILF is part of the pathway of French as a foreign language diplomas awarded by the Ministry of National Education. It represents the first step towards the DELF and DALF exams.
This diploma may be taken by all learners with minimal French language skills: absolute beginners in French as a foreign language and newcomers to France, often with little or no schooling in their home countries, and sometimes non-readers and non-writers. Candidates for the DILF must be at least sixteen years old on the date of the first exam.
The DILF exam consists of four tests assessing the following language skills:
- Listening comprehension
- Reading comprehension
- Speaking production
- Writing production
Due to the level assessed (A1.1), greater emphasis is placed on oral comprehension and production: 70 points are allocated to oral skills and 30 points to written skills.
